Even the man in the moon disappeared...

Tomorrow, I will be introduced on The Pretty Committee's blog as their Guest Designer for the month of March. I was so honored when I was asked to be there GD. It feels good to be recognized and appreciated for my passion and my art. I was asked to complete two separate challenges, one which will be posted today. The other, later in the month. 

I had SO much fun with this. It was fantastic working without any restrictions or supply lists- I was able to use whatever I wanted. I enjoyed working without limitations, given the chance to express my creativity and true style. PLEASE, go visit The Pretty Committee blog to see my, and many other talented women's work!

My March class at Whim So Doodle is on the schedule. You can check it out, here. It's definitely something different. A spin on altered art. I made a spring wall/door hanging out of cardboard. Then, I took distressing to a whole new level, by ripping the top layer of cardboard off to expose the corrugated cardboard in places. I added several layers of paint and beads as well and used the wonderful Urban Prairie line by Basic Grey. I doubt I'll ever grow tired of Basic Grey, as each line is better than the last. 

The class is scheduled on the third Saturday of March. I hope to see you all there! There are limited seats available. 

Life after death and taxes.

Despite today being one of my least favorite days of the year (single or not), it wasn't all that bad. I had to work, which made it easy to forget what day it was. After work, I went and saw, "He's just not that into you" with the fam. Including, my father, who was completely aware the movie was a chick flick. It was fantastic- definitely a movie I plan to buy and watch over and over again. I've read the book the movie was based on and a good number of the stories in the book appeared in the movie, which I was happy about. I think it's a movie every girl and guy (although unlikely) should see. 

Gigi's character is the stereotypical "pathetic and desperate" girl (the one, I am sure, many girls and guys can relate to, sympathize with, or pity) who obsesses over why "he hasn't called," wondering why guys never say what they mean or vice versa. If you haven't seen the movie and plan to, you'll see that Gigi represents many of the qualities we possess as women, the good, bad, ugly and crazy alike. In the movie, a switch occurs (actually, a revelation is made) and we see that guys are just as capable of acting as neurotic, obsessive, and tongue-tied as women when they like/love someone and believe, either correctly or incorrectly, that the feelings are mutual. Stupid in love applies to both men and women. 

Surprisingly, I found myself favoring an unlikely character in the film...can you guess who?Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that I'm very seldom attracted to guys who are like me and he certainly was not anything like me. I'm sure it also had to do with the level of confidence he possessed as well as his eager willingness to impart wisdom on a certain someone...

My day ended with a piece of ganache, chocolate cake that dad brought home, a gift certificate from Pottery Barn (love) and a planned "girls night out" for my mom, sister, and I (with dad, or as he says, our "driver," for the day) in April.

I received a surprise in my inbox this past Thursday. A fairly new challenge blog called The Pretty Committee, has asked me to be their March Guest Designer! I received my challenges for March from the Design Team Coordinator this weekend. I can't wait to start creating. This will be a nice change of pace. I've never done a page or project based on a challenge. I think it will be great because it will force me to work outside my comfort zone. Stay tuned and start checking their site in a few weeks!

Butterflies and Hurricanes.

Below are some pieces I created for the KnK Design Team with this month's kit. One of my favorite kits by far. I just loved using the butterflies on my pages and making them appear 3-dimensional. This page took a life of its own and I really love the result. I had an idea in my head and it actually (and seldom does) translated onto paper really well. The pictures worked well with the idea too.

I'm loving the new Prima pebbles. The ribbon in this month's kit was to die for.
