KnK's November Kit

Kit n' Kaboodles has posted November's kit!  It's super cute. And of course, I just love the owl Gerri-anne included.  I also love, love, love the papers she chose.  I've really liked October Afternoon's papers lately and was thrilled to see she included some of them in November's kit. I can't wait to start creating.  I have a few things in mind...

KnK Creations

Here are a few of my latest creations.  Patterned papers used in the layouts are from Kit n Kaboodles' October kit.  The papers are great on the web site, but even more beautiful in person. I had fun manipulating the papers- cutting, folding, inking. I also enjoyed adding an unexpected and not-so predictable touch to two of my pages- twigs. Since my pages were mostly related to Halloween and autumn, I decided to incorporate a rustic, earthy, and natural feel. For me, it was a departure from the norm.  TFL!

Twilight Loveliness

My friend Ashley kindly brought the wonderful, new Twilight trailer to my attention when it was released this Friday. I'll likely be watching it everyday until the movie comes out.  And then some. I am mesmerized by it all.  I'm pretty confident at this point that I won't be disappointed come November when I see the movie for the first, of many, times.  Enjoy. I know I did.

Baby Anya

I've been meaning to post a few pictures of my good friend Ferona (who returned home to the Cayman after she graduated from UCF in August) and her daughter, Anya.  Anya will be a year in December- she's growing so fast!  She's developing her voice and is quite the talker. Or, creator of sounds...no words just yet.  Now, Anya is in exploration mode- crawling everywhere and mesmerized by the tiniest things.  It's sweet to watch.

I love the expression on her face in this picture.  She's showing off her brand new, pearly whites!

As Time Goes By and Politics.

Today, my day did not meet the expectations most have for Saturdays. I was particularly down after leaving work (although initially rejoicing in finally receiving some hours), things just didn't seem to want to go my way. But long last, now I'm watching British comedies, so all is not bad.

In other news, did anyone else enjoy the debate Thursday as much as I did? 70 million people tuned into the debate- almost 20 million more than for the presidential debate last week. I'm sure Americans were hoping to see Palin choke. We have a morbid sense of a good time. Biden did remarkably well- political analysts are describing his performance as his best debate ever. Palin, on the other hand...o, Palin. Sorry, but Alaska's close proximity to Russia does NOT constitute foreign policy experience.  In a now, well publicized interview with Katie Couric, when asked what magazines and newspapers she reads, Palin answered that she reads them all. Really Sarah? Yet, in your view, the worst thing Dick Cheney has done as Vice President is his unfortunate hunting accident. I think that says it all. Surprisingly enough, Palin didn't do nearly as bad as everyone had anticipated in the debate, but then again, expectations were virtually non-existent regarding her performance.  Having said that, Sarah Palin, unlike your loyal, right-winged followers, I see past your folksy delivery, your winking at the camera (that's a first in a debate), your "bless their hearts" and "darn rights," your shout outs to third graders and hockey moms everywhere, and your claims at being a "Washington outsider" and see your performance for what it really was- a weak attempt at fooling us all.  Your performance closely resembled that of a spelling bee competition. It's easy to memorize answers outlined by Dick Cheney's speech writing staff.  And it's easy to spend 60 of the 90 minute debate discussing your record in Alaska and energy, but next time, why not try answering at least 20% of the questions outlined by the moderator? After all, that is what a debate is about. Palin might have stopped her bleeding (for now), but did she really help McCain?  I think not.  And the polls, although not always entirely reliable, back me up. And one more thing, if Palin wants to prove herself as the "right" choice for Vice President, why not do another live interview?  You know, one where you're forced to think on your feet and react in the moment. Not one where you answer 8 questions with the same 2 answers, over and over again. Unfortunately, we will not be so lucky. I predict we will see very little of Governor Palin over the next 30 days...
